It is a time of many crises in the world. But often those trying to be of service find themselves caught in the very energies that create the crises. Little is likely to change deeply until there are enough leaders at all levels who are “in the world but not of the world,” who can be both fully engaged and yet stand aside from the entanglements that can trap us all and limit our potential impact. The world does not need our suffering added to the suffering that already exists. We are all learning how to operate with open hearts and “unmovable minds,” a stable awareness that supports us and the well-being of all life regardless of outer or inner circumstances.

We realize that people come from many different cultivation traditions. But behind them all is a common understanding that our development as human beings shapes what we can accomplish in supporting the well-being of others and of life more broadly. Our spiritual development and our work in the world are not separate, but two dimensions of a single life journey. Increasingly, we believe this deep connection is being rediscovered by more and more leaders in diverse settings.”
